Warped Tour is not only the best place to find your favorite artists in one place, but it's the best place to find new music. I have bought a CD or two from guys with backpacks - trying to get someone to listen to their music. And you know what - a couple of those have really made it pretty far.
I happened to catch them on the Full Sail stage - which seemed so tiny after shooting on the Journey's Main Stage all day. Kids were piled in to see them, and once they jumped on stage, their upbeat - pop-punk aesthetic and catchy tunes even had me bouncing along as I snapped photo after photo.
Their energy resonates with punk bands as their guitarist air jumps in circles, their screamo back vocals balance out the energy and create a band that is truly unique. They stomp their feet on the stage, they sing, they scream, they dance, they engage with the audience. They are by all accounts the essence of Warped Tour in one band.
With a home town advantage, the kids who came out to watch were not just looking for new music but were hardcore fans who sang along to every word. I couldn't help but feel a wave of nostalgia as they reminded me of bands I listened to in my youth.
Formed in 2010, it's taken them awhile to get to this point but they deserve it. Their debut album, Old Bones is so easy to listen to and should become a summer staple for long drives in the car. Yes, it's on Spotify - but don't be cheap - buy it!
If you find yourself at Warped Tour this year and have a few minutes go check them out! They are worth the experience and the listen.
