Spring Family Photographer at Raleigh Rose Garden

Okay. Let's talk about trends. I have seen so many amazing, out of the box, family photographers popping up all over the country and I wanted to take their vision (granted we don't have mountains in the piedmont) and bring it to the Triangle. Raleigh Durham might not be the West Coast but when it comes to family photos there are quite a few places that make the perfect backdrops. So when the Hager family braved the mist and threat of rain to take their family photos I wanted to make the most of it. I tried to use some new technique to create gorgeous family portraits. Even if skittles had to be used for bribes for a few of these I was really proud of this session and how it turned out.

MY FAVORITE LOCATIONS FOR FAMILY PHOTOS IN RALEIGH-DURHAM:

  • Raleigh Rose Garden - this amazing garden blooms TWICE A YEAR! In spring and summer, there is something to enjoy for most of the year at this lush park that also doubles as an outdoor theater to the amazing Raleigh Little Theater group.

  • Fred Fletcher Park - again, another park in the heart of Raleigh that has blooms almost all year long. From evergreens in the winter, to daffoldils, and rose bushes, it truly is one of my go-to places for family photos.

  • Dorthea Dix Park - whether you’re looking for a skyline view or sweeping fields of tall grasses, Dix Park has it all. This vast park is the perfect location for family photos any time of year.

  • North Gate Park - this park has trails, bridges, trees, and my favorite ruins perfect for spooky or unique family photos in the Durham area.
