Documentary Coverage of Reception & After Party at Prestonwood Country Club in Cary with Sammy & Michael
Michael and Sammy met on Tinder and after their first date at a theme park, they both agreed that the one shared value they had for their relationship is fun. And for a fun loving couple like them, it didn’t shock me that they wanted to elope in Vegas with an Elvis Impersonator! However, even though there were plans to celebrate their love privately, they still wanted to have a moment to share with their close friends and family.
The love that Sammy feels towards Michael is one that she describes as morbidly sweet. He is the first person that Sammy had ever been able to picture a life long adventure with, one that truly embraces that cliché vow of “‘til death do us part”. The couple currently resides in Salt Lake City, Utah and both share a passion for helping others in the community. Michael is a firefighter and previous winner of Firefighter of the Year, which everyone bragged about at the wedding, and he even wore his medal to prove it inside his suit jacket. Meanwhile, Sammy who is currently in graduate school, expressed her love for volunteering domestically and internationally in her free time.
When I asked what their vision was for remembering their wedding celebration, they expressed an interest in documentary-styled photography, and I was more than happy to oblige. What often piques the interest of couples with documentary photographs of their wedding is the ability to capture candid moments of their guests having a good time and the love that is occurring in real time with the wedding party. There aren’t posed moments and the work to be genuinely happy for the couple is effortless.
This “real-ness of the moment” is exactly what Sammy and Michael felt was important to them and it was further witnessed by their encouragement for their guests to come celebrate with them in fancy clothes that they wouldn’t normally wear but made them feel good.
A love as pure and energetic as this is hard to come by and it’s easy to see that the couple had a magical time dancing, drinking, and celebrating their love with their friends.
